Eccentric City: Rise and Fall, presents an exhibition based upon the beliefs and disillusionment of the Japanese artist, Keiichi Tanaami, Eccentric City: Rise and Fall is a collaboration with the Singaporean art and design collective, :phunk. The exhibition involved a selected group of students in an apprenticeship programme under :phunk, known as TRANSMISSION:LAB.

The collaboration between Tanaami and :phunk demonstrates an overlapping relation between practices in art and design. This relation is reflected in their background. Tanaami, who was one of the avant-garde members of the countercultural movement in Japan in the Sixties, began his career in advertising design, incorporating polychrome printing into his pop art works.

Alittle slow on the updates, but still I thought we keep the hype growing.

This kicks needs no introduction as everyone should knows the movie “Back to the Future”.

It will definitely be a big hit as people been wanting them since 85′.

Tired Pony is a music group consisting of Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Richard Colburn (Belle & Sebastian), Iain Archer, Jacknife Lee, Peter Buck (REM), Scott McCaughey and Troy Stewart. Track 05: Held in The Arms Of Your Words is my personal favourite out of the 10 tracks. I aint sure but I gotta gut feel its Peter Buck working on the guitar.Normally such side projects from acclaimed artist are unique in its own way since they tend to try out different things but ”The Place We Ran From” sounds a tad conventional however conventional sells.

After a five-month long campaign involving thousands of recycled cans and more than a hundred registered entries, the dust will finally settle on the Red Bull Art of Can 2010 Singapore this Friday, with the culmination of a 10-day exhibition at *SCAPE, featuring 56 pieces of incredible works of art by Singaporeans from all walks of life.

The final 56 art pieces will be on display from 3 to 11 July 2010 at The Gallery located on level 5 of the brand new *SCAPE, the latest youth hangout along Orchard. Entry is free. The winning pieces will be announced during the by invite only gala premiere of the Red Bull Art of Can 2010 Exhibition this Friday, 2 July at 7.30pm.  

A cute pocket-sized digital camera that takes you down memory lane. The Orangutan House in Malacca was set up in 1992 as the studio-gallery of Charles Cham, the first art gallery to be set up in the Jonker Street area. This is his atelier where he creates his paintings and T-shirts designs following the return from Europe to his hometown. Since then, it has become an iconic landmark in Malacca.

Charles Cham’s contemporary paintings are based on the eastern philosophy of Yin and Yang, with two paintings on one canvas, each facing the other in the opposite direction. He uses figures and faces to express his ideas which are sometimes political, sometimes satirical and often humorous.

This Spring, Louis Vuitton introduced the “Cosmic Blossom” collection, a creative collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami, the celebrated Japanese Neo-Pop artist. Though Jing is not sure whether she will dig into her pocket for this collection, it is certainly fun, impressive and cute.

I had to admit that I was neither a big fan of Puma nor Da Mouth (大嘴巴). However, the wall posters along the walkway of Somerset MRT station, featuring  the Puma “A Bright and Colourful Future” campaign, had caught my attention and left much impression. The jolly and boisterous images lure Jing to check out the Spring/Summer 2010 collection in store. A marketing feat well done indeed.
